Extend your timber frame repertoire to other ideas beyond a home or dining hall. Try an entertainment barn, boat house ,pergola or picnic shelter.

Barns, Barns, Barns, Let’s Party!

Let’s take a look at a few timber barn ideas

Post and beam construction for this timber party barn.  Hand crafted in Vermont and raised in Shiner, TX by the Vermont Timber Works Crew.  See the little tree?  OH, that’s a cactus!

This weathered hemlock timber frame is also a party barn, though a bit closer to home…in Dublin, NH.  Featuring hand crafted timbers and traditional joinery, raising again, by our Vermont Timber Works Crew. Oh look, another little tree!

Mike, at the  Dublin, NH barn raising, pounding joinery pegs.

Horses will be partying in this beautiful post and beam barn.  Even the horse trailer has a place in this design.

Where’s the little tree?  We must not be done yet!

Working with Perry Bartsch Jr. Construction Co., and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, we present the New Kituwah Language Academy Building.  The school will teach math, science, history, and language arts.  The language arts will be the Cherokee Language (Kituwah).  Of course!

Pergola in douglas fir timber certainly adds craftsmanship to the beautiful landscape.  Vermont Timber Works is proud to have been chosen to work on this incredible project.

Close up of our timber pergola, looks great!

Post and Beam Constructed Dining Hall

Post and beam heavy timber construction created this dining hall timber frame.

Steel Joinery was needed, as you can see!

SOON, Vermont Timber Works will return to the Fresh Air Fund Camp Hayden to get finished pictures. Complex timber framing at it’s finest!

Post and beam construction and a beautiful design creates this horse barn.  On Martha’s Vineyard by Vermont Timber Works, Inc.

Engineered for hay storage, of course.   Traditional joinery, mortise and tenon with hard wood pegs, I’m seeing some very lucky horses here!

Post and Beam Boat House

February 11, 2010 3 comments

This post and beam boat house is replacing a conventionally framed boat house that was torn down. Watermark Construction has demolished the structure including the slip. Crib is rebuilt and came out beautifully. Now it is up to Vermont Timber Works for the post and beam construction. This little boat house will be a wonderful addition to the Lake Sunapee home that it belongs to.

Thank you for choosing Vermont Timber Works!

Post and beam homes do not need to be large.  This is a favorite, our Chase House.  24 x 40 and a wonderful starter home and a great project for us.

Let’s go inside this pretty post and beam home hang out by the fireplace with some hot cocoa.  Sounds good,  I hope Mark doesn’t mind the company!

Hand hewn white pine timbers are a beautiful contrast in this design.  I wonder where the cabinetry came from?  And that stone fireplace is gorgeous!

Here is our erected timber frame. Vermont Timber Works scope usually ends here and the general contractor takes over.
