Great Room Additions
Many times the additional to a home becomes a great room. An open gathering space for family to relax, unwind and just be together. Getting that big open space can be a beautiful accomplishment with post and beam construction and timber beams.

The fireplace and /or hearth with wood stove is always welcome in a New England Project!
Chapel Progress, Incredible!
The NEW Chapel for Holy Apostles is making incredible progress! OR should I say Sullivan Brothers and all their subcontractors are? Either way, this timber frame project is stunning and all involved are very happy.
Incredible Post and Beam Chapel
Vermont Timber Works is proud to have been chosen for the Chapel for Holy Apostles project. From the first visit with Jack Delaney, P.E. to meeting Father Mosey during the raising, a wonderful experience. Thank you everyone. Look for many more photos soon, as I’m just posting this quick.
I’ll Wait in the Lobby, Thank You
Lobbies have always captured my attention while traveling. They can say,
“welcome” or “keep on walking!”
When lobby designers use heavy timber, it always says welcome…have a cup of tea…read your newspapers…meet someone special.
Where are the roasted chestnuts? Yes, another Grand Marnier, please,
while I check out these beams.
The Art of Angle
Some angles speak for themselves. Something like “ahhhh”…is what comes out of me.
Some angles are nice to study, to see all that the architect created. The angles seem to play with you…the eye cannot rest.
No mediocre here!
It’s never just a building when heavy timber is involved.
Pretty Little Pegs
Pegs, unaccompanied, hold these timber joints together.
When I look at structures built by Vermont Timber Works, that fact never ceases to amaze me. Pegs can be strong! They are really just simple wood sticks yet,
intricately positioned, pegs create a counter force that is strong enough to face weather changes, the earth shifting and, of course, heavy loads.
Pegs are much prettier than nails, screws, or bolts so I like VTW’s traditional joinery best.
The arch is pretty cool too.
The warmth of timber vs the chill of steel…
Commercial project designers often choose timber rather than steel for their trusses, posts, and framing, for many reasons:
Warm Aesthetic Styles, Better Prices, Intricate Designs, Better Prices, Versatile Color & Texture.
Ask your architect for a comparison of timber vs steel. The choice is yours.
It’s Going to Rain!!! But Not on Me.
I’ll pull my car under a porte cochere when those skies threaten.
It took timber trusses to build these porte cocheres. I love that word (port-ko-’sher).
Isn’t the timber beautiful? Steel would never have looked as attractive. Nice choice!
Simple or intricate, we make timber trusses, spring, summer, fall, and winter.
Porte cochere or porch…rain gear never looked so good.
Pull up a chair and watch the rain. Let it pour!
